Dog training services agreement
This agreement is between Meridian Dog Training and Behavior Academy, a trade name of Meridian Leadership Consulting LLC ("the Trainer"), and the client signing below ("the Client").
1. Services
The Trainer provides private, in-home dog training and behavior support using force-free, reward-based, LIMA-aligned methods, delivered in scheduled sessions with a written plan and homework.
2. Fees and payment
Fees are listed on the Services page and confirmed at booking. Consults are paid at booking. Packages are paid in full at the start of training unless agreed otherwise in writing.
3. Cancellation
The Client will give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions canceled with less notice, or missed, may be charged in full. The Trainer will give the same notice.
4. Methods
The Trainer does not use prong collars, choke chains, electronic or shock collars, or other aversive tools or techniques. The Client agrees to follow this approach during the program, including retiring any aversive equipment.
5. The Client's role
The Client agrees to practice assigned exercises, follow the management and safety plan (including securing the dog before opening exterior doors), share complete and honest information about the dog's history including any bites or incidents, keep vaccinations current, and consult a veterinarian for medical concerns.
6. No guarantee
Animal behavior is not fully predictable. The Trainer will use professional, humane, evidence-based methods but cannot guarantee any specific outcome. Behavior work often takes months of consistent practice and ongoing management.
7. Assumption of risk
The Client understands that working with dogs, especially reactive or fearful dogs, carries inherent risks, including bites, scratches, and other injury to people or animals, and accepts responsibility for the dog's behavior and for following the safety measures provided.
8. Owner responsibility and liability
The Client remains the owner and handler of the dog at all times and is solely responsible for the dog's actions, including any injury or damage to any person, animal, or property, during and outside of sessions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Client releases, indemnifies, and holds harmless the Trainer and the business from claims, damages, or expenses arising from the dog's behavior, except to the extent caused by the Trainer's gross negligence or willful misconduct.
9. Scope and referrals
The Trainer does not provide veterinary care or diagnosis, and may recommend or require a veterinary or veterinary-behavior consultation, or refer the Client to another qualified professional, when a case falls outside the Trainer's scope.
10. Photos and video
The Client chooses below whether the Trainer may use photos or video of the dog, without identifying the Client, for training records and promotion.
11. Termination
Either party may end this agreement with written notice. Fees for sessions already delivered remain due. The Trainer may end services if continuing would be unsafe or if the agreed methods or safety measures are not followed.
