Questions people ask
Don't see yours? Send me a note.
Do you use prong, choke, or shock collars?
No. I train force-free and follow the LIMA standard. If your dog wears one of these now, I'll help you switch to gear that gives you control without pain.
How many sessions will my dog need?
It depends on your dog and how much you practice between sessions. Most reactive dogs need several sessions over a couple of months. You'll get an honest estimate after the consult.
Where do sessions happen?
At your home and in your neighborhood, across Baltimore City and Baltimore County. That's where the problems happen, so that's where we practice.
What happens at the consult?
We talk through your dog's history, I watch how they behave, and we identify triggers and early warning signs. You leave with a written plan and management steps you can start right away.
Can you guarantee results?
No honest trainer can. Behavior depends on genetics, history, environment, and practice. What I can promise is a clear, science-based plan and support while you work it.
Are you certified?
I'm working toward my CPDT-KA certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and I follow its humane-training standards.
My dog has bitten. Can you help?
Possibly. Tell me about it when you book, including what happened right before. Some cases are best handled together with a veterinarian or a veterinary behaviorist, and I'll tell you if I think yours is one of them.
Do I need to be there?
Yes. Most of the work is teaching you, since you're with your dog every day.
What should I have ready?
Your dog's favorite high-value treats, like chicken, cheese, or hot dog, cut small. If your dog gets overwhelmed by visitors, have them leashed or behind a gate when I arrive.
